Attendance and Absence

Medical Absence

To report an illness, please email absent@st-peters.surrey.sch.uk or call 01483 534654 and choose option 1 by 9.15am.  If your child is ill for more than one day, please contact the school each day to confirm your child's absence.

If your child is absent frequently because of illness, the school may ask for medical guidance to make sure the right support is given.

A truancy call will be sent upon any unknown student absence.

Based upon the Public Health Agency guidelines, students who have experienced vomiting and/or diarrhoea should be kept away from school for 48 hours from their last episode. Please contact the school each day to confirm your child's absence.

Medical or Dental Appointments

To report a medical or dental appointment, please inform the school in advance wherever possible by emailing absent@st-peters.surrey.sch.uk.

Please remember to write a note in your child's journal to confirm the absence in order for the class teacher to release your child from their lesson.

All students must sign in and out of School Reception for health and safety purposes.

School Attendance

At St Peter’s we have always taken a very straightforward view when it comes to attendance: we expect students to be in school every day, barring serious illness or accident, and we do not permit holidays during term time.

However, parents should be aware that the law now enforces the position regarding holidays. The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013, state that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. The Headteacher should determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if leave is granted.
