Despite the challenges of the last 17 months, our Year 11 students have performed brilliantly in their GCSE’s and there were many smiles as envelopes were opened. Once again St Peter’s students showed resilience and determination to overcome the challenges of online learning and the unprecedented manner that their GCSE grades were awarded.
The Year 13 students at St Peter’s Catholic School, Guildford should be very proud of their achievements this summer. After a unique Sixth Form experience, they have shown true resilience and determination to overcome the many difficult challenges the pandemic has thrown at them, studying in a range of conditions and circumstances, either at home or in school.
Their approach to the A Level and BTEC assessments at the end of the year has reaped rewards. Of all the subjects entered, over 60% was an A* or A grade and 80% of all grades achieved B or higher. This means that many doors to universities and apprenticeship, as well as the world of work have been successfully opened for our young people.
This year we are raising money for three different charities that have been nominated by, and then voted for, by our students. These charities are:

Justice and Peace is something that is at the heart of Catholic social teaching. As stewards for the planet, it is important that we realise our individual and collective responsibilities to look after our world and all those who dwell in it. Through a conversation between Kevin and Mr Butler regarding the enthusiasm of a group of students, we wanted to give them the opportunity to encourage and channel their passion for making the world a better place.
Facilitated by Kevin (School Chaplain), five students (Veronica, Charlotte, Sophie, Leini and Kornelia) accepted the invitation to participate in a trial programme over Teams. This ran for five sessions and was led by James Trewby (Justice and Peace Education Worker) who works for the Columban Missionary.I

We would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity means that people in Guildford who rely on the North Guildford Food Bank and the Number Five Project can have food and essential items this Christmas.
With around £2,000 raised as well as 75 boxes packed to the brim with donations of food and other essential items, it is fair to say it was an overwhelming success.
