A selection of students from St Peter’s spent a most inspiring morning at Surrey Satellite Technology in Guildford, today, to celebrate the government’s Year of Engineering this year.
Our Year 9 and Year 12 students saw ‘mission control’ for SSTL’s first all-British radar mini satellite, NovaSAR, launched in India last Sunday. They met engineers who work on the satellites and learnt about how satellites are designed, built, tested, launched and operated.
Students found out about SSTL’s apprenticeship programme, work experience, internships and graduate programmes to help them understand the routes into aerospace engineering.
at 7pm. There is no need to book but please do arrive promptly to the Headteacher's talk in the Dining Hall.
The remainder of the week is as normal: 3:15pm finish.
Record A Level Results at St Peter’s Catholic School
There were cheers and tears of joy as students opened their A level results at St Peter’s School. 78% of all results were A* to B, which is a fantastic achievement and a record for St Peter’s School. Over half of results achieved are A or A*, which is a credit to the hard work and determination of the students.
We are incredibly proud of every student, and a special mention should go to Charles Dudley, Non Geraint and Cara Malcolm who, having achieved 4 A* grades, will now go on to Cambridge University to study Engineering . Students who achieved 3 A* grades are: Kieran Michael and Jennie Sarama. Many students were awarded A* or A grades across all their subjects; Adam Birchmore, Farah Bisada, Kathryn Brand, Will Catchpole, Megan Fitzwater, Charlie Haclin, Jenna Hill, Hugo Holmes, Rebecca King, Connie Miller, Francesca Pain, Maura Sherlock and Harriet Trayling. Other students who should be particularly proud of their achievements are: Maria Baczynska, Sam Levick, Oliver Porter, Joe Roberts, Felicity Scott, Naomi Freeman and Cherry Meeks. Nearly all our student have accepted their university offers, with students going to on to study a range of courses including medicine, dentistry, engineering, English language, accountancy, psychology and midwifery.
Behind these excellent headlines there are many stories, where students have overcome adversity or personal challenges which make the accomplishment even more special. We are so grateful for all the hard work and effort that has gone into supporting, encouraging and nurturing the students from the staff and the endless support that the parents have given their young people and the school. It is exciting to see them leave St Peter’s and start a new chapter. We wish them all the best for the future.
