  • GCSE Exam Success

    Published 21/08/19

Students were celebrating wonderful results as they opened their GCSE envelopes this morning at St Peter’s.  The dedication and resilience of this year group paid off with some exceptional performances.  Core subjects saw 68% of students achieve a grade 5 or above in English and Maths and 87% achieve a grade 4 or above in English and Maths.  We’d like to congratulate all students on their success and also their parent’s for the support during the last two years.  Headteacher, Toby Miller said “I am in awe of the focus and positive attitude the students gave to their exams this year.  With the pressure of new specifications, tougher exams and no coursework in all but a few subjects it really does come down to the final exams for the youngsters.  I’d like to thank all of our staff at St Peter’s for their endless caring and support for every student.”

Some top performances from Sophia Kapsalis who achieved 10 grades 9’s, Vasco Ferreira who achieved 9 grade 9’s, Keeley Cottam with 8 grade 9’s and many students who achieved excellent grades including those who achieved 8 or more grades at 7-9 level: Calum Anderson, Roc Axtell, Xander Bailey, Marysia Bankowska, Francesca Bowden, Fintan Cluskey, Freya Collins, Claire Davis, Oscar Ferenczy, Jessica Findley, Emily Fowler, Maya Fulford, Isabella Garcia Rodriguez, Megan Gerold, Piotr, Grabkowski, Gabriel Harrison, Laura Hegg, Jack Humphries, Josh Ingham, Emma Keena, Larissa, Levick, Earl Magaway, Nicole Misud, Isla Miller, Luke Milner, Abi Murphy, Tamuka Mushati, Linnea Roberts, Mary Taylor, David Van Graan and Ellen Young.  There were also many students who achieved well beyond their predications at all levels and we applaud them all.  We would like to wish our students all the best for the future.

  • A Level Results Success

    Published 15/08/19

There were cheers and tears of joy as students opened their A level results at School this morning.  As a year group, almost half of results achieved are A or A* and 66% of all results were A* to B, which is a wonderful achievement for the students at St Peter’s Catholic School.  These achievements are a credit to the hard work and determination of the students and we are very proud of them.

A special mention should go to Finn McManus with 4 A* grades and is going to study Chemical Physics, and Charlotte Browning with 3 A*s. Other students who achieved exceptional grades are: Nadia Fernandes, Alice Harrison, Joe Harwood, Victoria Archer, Gemma Pearce, Caitlin Gillard, Sam Marshall, Amber Penter, Will Preston, Cameron Taylor, John Taylor, Char Terry, Nick Thorn, Ella Wood, Sam Wyles and Isabella Hillery. Nearly all of our students have accepted their university offers, with students going to study medicine, veterinary, engineering, English literature, geography, computer science, marine biology, accountancy, psychology and paramedic science to name a few. We are incredibly proud of all of our students.

Within the joy of these results, there are many stories, where students have overcome adversity or personal challenges which make the accomplishment even more special. We are so grateful for all the hard work and effort that has gone into supporting, encouraging and nurturing the students from the staff and the endless support that the parents have given their young people and the school. It is exciting to see them leave St Peter’s and start a new chapter. We wish them all the best for the future.

  • 'Eggsellent' time for Spanish students making tortillas

    Published 10/06/19

Year 12 Spanish students at St Peter's celebrated the end of their exams in early June with a special tortilla cooking lesson at school, at the culmination of which they ate and enjoyed every last morsel they had lovingly created.

"They all really enjoyed it and produced cracking omelettes or 'tortillas' in Spanish," says  Mrs Mortimer, Teacher in charge of Spanish, who was delighted as they followed her own Spanish recipe. Thank you to Mrs August, Head of Food Technology, who was the tortilla judge and who was most impressed with the four omelette entries in the competition, selecting the omelette made by Emma and Shadee as the overall winner! Well done to all!
