Student Leadership

Head Students

Head students play an important role in worship within our school community, including direction and catechesis around year group and key stage Masses. They are also attached to different year groups and lead prayer activities on a tutor group level.

They promote and embody gospel values in their every interaction with students. In their meetings as a team, they discuss what decisions they can make for the common good. They ensure they have considered the most disadvantaged members of our community and seek equity and equality of treatment for those that are less fortunate within our community. An example of how they achieve this is the organisation of fundraising events such as RAG Week.

SALT

The Student Action and Leadership Team (SALT) is a group of 75 students inspired by Matthew 5:13-16 to lead their peers in the Spiritual and Community Life of the school alongside the Head Students.

Meetings take place in the hall at St Pius X Church and consist of "student voice", where they represent the opinions of their peers to impact positive change. They also evaluate and prepare aspects of our Catholic Life throughout the year, modelling developments before implementation for all students. Meetings always end with the team sharing a meal with staff and governors.

According to their individual giftings, the team also commits to serving the school through creativity, fundraising and public speaking, and assisting SLT and the Chaplaincy Team with both routine and major school events.

CAFOD Young Leaders

Our sixth formers are often involved in the CAFOD young leaders’ programme and put their new skills into practice through campaigning and advocacy in school.
